Hey there! Hope all is well. For today’s hang out, I’m announcing that I”m finally coming out! I’ve been hiding for far too long, and now it’s time to free myself!
The Backstory for my Coming Out
I’m sure you know by now that I have been married for nineteen years, and I have 20-year-old twin sons and a 16-year-old son. My husband and I began dating at 16yo, became pregnant at 17yo and married at 19yo. I gave you that quick backstory to preface what’s coming next.
For most of our lives together, my focus has been supporting my husband’s dreams and ideas and raising my kids to be the best men possible. No, I’m not a Martha Stewart! I don’t cook, and I sometimes clean. LOL! But seriously, I was giving my all to them. I didn’t think of myself or try to figure out what I wanted. I worked a job I loathed to make sure we had everything we needed. In the process of focusing on my duties as a mom and a wife, I lost myself.
The Process of my Coming Out
However, today, I am concentrating more on what I want and need. I’m finding my SELFish and coming out of the closet. The closet of fear of not believing that I could do anything. The closet of always being in my husband’s shadow and neglecting my desires to make sure my kids’ wishes happened first. It’s time for me to LIVE, and now I’m going after all of mine!
The Outcome of my Coming Out
My goal is to help other wives that are currently living this way come out too! By sharing my story and providing encouragement, I hope to save or prevent other moms and wives from being locked in this same closet.
I am redefining SELFISH and bringing a positive spin to it. Please continue to follow me as I begin to unveil what S.E.L.F.I.S.H means and how this word/acronym will change lives.

Until next time, I’ll leave you with this. My goal is to uplift, empower, and support all women as we continue to become the best version of ourselves, FOR OURSELVES!!! Whether you’re married, dating, or single and desire to be married someday, I’d love to have you on this journey with me. Stay tuned as I find and mind my SELFish!
We are always expected to put others first but the truth is you are just as important and it’s okay to put yourself and your needs first. Great post!

I totally understand how you felt and I shared the same feeling. I decided to focus on me at the ending of 2020 after too many years of not putting myself first. 🙌🏾🙌🏾
