Every Win Should Be Celebrated
While a win is a win, I do believe there are levels of winning. Regardless of size, it’s essential to acknowledge a smaller success just as you celebrate those on a larger scale. The acknowledgment of every step serves as a reminder that nothing comes easy. It also teaches you to appreciate the work you’ve put in to progress to that level.
Progress is Progress
Let’s say you’re working on losing weight, and you drop a pound in one week. Don’t beat yourself up because it wasn’t as much as you’d like to have lost. We often praise harder when the scale shows more pounds gone. However, we have to learn to celebrate even with the least progress. Because we have made an effort and see a change, it’s worth acknowledging.
Easier Said Than Done
As I type this article to share with others, I’m also talking to myself. In most cases, it’s always easier said than done. The very words we use to encourage others, we often debate amongst ourselves. Instead of recognizing and appreciating our steps, we condemn them.
We tell ourselves, “Oh, it’s just this, or it wasn’t quite the way I wanted.” Verses us saying, “I’m happy with what I’ve done so far, or I can see my growth.” Celebrate ALL wins!Tweet
I often find myself focusing on what I haven’t done or what’s not quite right. I’m thankful to have others‘ voices in my head or physically present to snap me back in those moments. While working on projects, I’ll stress about having so much left to do. Then the voice of one of my friends will say, “But look at how much you’ve finished.” I have to step back, assess the situation, and agree. I then tell myself, “Girl, you are doing great, so celebrate your accomplishment.” If something is missing, keep putting in the work until it’s complete.
Do you acknowledge and celebrate each step of your journey?
Until next time, I’ll leave you with this. No matter what your goal is, appreciate every step of progress you make. Find a way to recognize your achievements on every level. If you weren’t already doing this, this is your call to action to START NOW!
Thanks for hanging out with me!
